2025 APS Heads of the River
The 158th boys Head of the River and the 44th girls Head of the River were conducted Saturday 22nd March 2025 at Nagambie Lakes.
In the boys first crews, Scotch College were the pre race favourite and did not disappoint the pundits. The placings were less easy to select with Xavier College finishing second ahead of Melbourne Grammar.
With the girl's first crew race, Geelong Grammar again won well from Geelong College with Caulfield in third place and Wesley in fourth. Geelong College did not boat a crew.
Of interest in the other races was the Melbourne Grammar second crew. A crew member had died during training and naturally both the crew and other members of the club and the school were devastated. The crew went onto win their division well.
Slight south westerly winds prevailed creating a cross head breeze. This wind increased during the morning and became sufficient to reseed the lanes for the afternoon session.
