1971 South Australian Schools' Head of the River

The Under 14 Four was raced for the first time at the SA Head of the River in 1971. 

Also in 1971, the Menz Cup for Under 15 Fours was awarded by the Menz Family.

The 1971 SA Head of the River saw the following events raced:

- First Eight

- Second Eight

- Open Four

- Open Lightweight Four

- Under 16 Four

- Under 15 Four

Pulteney Grammar School won the First Eight for a fourth-straight year whilst also taking out the Under 15 Four. It was 11-straight wins for St. Peter's College in the Second Eight, with SPC also taking out the Under 16 Four. Scotch College won the Open Four and the inaugural race for Under 14 Fours. Christian Brothers College won their first race since their inception in the SA Head of the River in 1961.
