First Eight
The Advertiser wrote of St. Peter's win of the 1947 SA Head of the River:
"In the Head-of-the-River final, the crews battled from the start, with P. A.C first to show a small advantage. At the willows, Prince Alfred College led by a canvas, and, at the bridge by one-third of a length. SPSC became slightly ragged when approaching the bridge, and when it raised its rating in an effort to reduce the leeway PAC answered the challenge. It was a great race past the Adelaide and Mercantile boatsheds. but with a paralysing burst of speed which only stamina and experience could supply, SPSC overtook PAC 200 yards from home and won by two-thirds of a length."
