Men's Youth Events

The fore runner of the various under age events of the present day was a category called youth with various age definitions. David Boykett, a Melbourne based school teacher and senior Australian rower and coach, led the push for youth rowing. As an example of his work, he convinced the Australian Rowing Council, as it then was, to send the leading Australian schoolboy eight in 1973 to compete at the World Under Championships. Also he was a key person behind the introduction of the Interstate Youth Championship in 1974.

The following discontinued events were conducted prior to the introduction of the new under age events.
