Mercantile Rowing Club (VIC) - David W. Crawshay
Crawshay defeated P Buckworth of Tees Rowing Club by 3 1/2 lengths in the first round. However he lost to M K Langridge of Leander in the second round by a length. The Henley Regatta Records 2000-04 reported the race as follows. The race between Langridge and Crawshay was an excellent one. Langridge was very quick off the start and then settled well to lead by a length and a half at the first signal. He was warned several times for his steering and Crawshay edged back and was only a canvas down at the mile. It seemed as though Langridge was unable to raise his rate but he drew away again and, despite further poor steering, won by a length.
Rockhampton Grammar School (QLD) - A. R. Sutherland
Sutherland was no match for I D J Watson of Westminster School Boat Club in the first round who won easily.
Lindisfarne Rowing Club (TAS) - Tom L Edwards

Brisbane Grammar School and Brisbane Boys' College (QLD) - G. J. C. Lusink (b), T. A. H. Watts, J. F. O’Neill, Kade A. R. Greenland (s)
In the first round, the Brisbane schoolboys defeated Sydney by 3 1/4 lengths. The second round was a far tighter race against the eventual winners Leander Club and Everham Rowing Club. The Australians were defeated by 3/4 length. The Henley Regatta Records 2000-04 reported on this race as follows. Earlier Leander Club and Evesham Rowing Club had defeated Crescent Boat Club, who had pressed hard throughout the race, by a length and a half. Their semi-final against Brisbane Grammar School and Brisbane Boys' College, Australia produced an outstanding race between two well-matched quads. The Australians. moving smoothly and with excellent blade-work, took an early lead and were half a length up at the Barrier but this was reduced to a quarter of a length by Fawley. The quads were level at the mile signal with Leander and Evesham sculling at a higher rate. Here they took the lead, were a canvas to the good at the last signal and won an excellent race by three quarters of a length.
Sydney Rowing Club (NSW) - R. T Brownrigg (b), J. J. Friedrich, T. A Meiklejohn, T. G. Gay (s)
Sydney had to qualify for this event with 37 entries. Despite the effort of qualifying, they were ousted in the first round by fellow Australians the Brisbane Grammar and Brisbane Boys crew.
St. Joseph's College with Anglican Church Grammar School - T.J Beaton (b), D. S Purcell, B. A. Chardon, D. T. Pitt (s)
This crew also had to qualify with the large number of entries. Sadly, they were eliminated in the first round by Windsor Boys School is a great race. The Henley Regatta Records 2000-04 reported as follows. The best race of the day was the one between The Windsor Boys' School and the composite crew from Australia of St. Joseph's College and Anglican Grammar School. Both crews sculled stroke for stroke to Fawley, the Australians having taken, and held, a lead of half a length from the first signal. They increased this lead to three quarters of a length at the three quarter mile. Here The Windsor Boys' School closed and had reduced the lead to a quarter of a length at the mile signal. They then waited until the Regatta Enclosure before mounting a sustained attack to which the Australians had no answer. They stormed past them winning by two lengths.

Mercantile Rowing Club (VIC) - Matthew N. Phillips, Kris D. Coventry, Alister G. Taylor, Dale S. Hawkins (s)
This crew had a 2 1/2 length win over an Irish crew from University College, Dublin in the first round. The Irish led early and were only overtaken at Remenham Club. Then an easy win over Tideway Scullers/Northampton Rowing Club in the second round. The semi-final against the Leander B crew was a good race with the Australians going down by 1/2 length. The Henley Regatta Records 2000-2004 reported on the races as follows. The second semi-final was much closer. Leander Club 'B' were very fast off the start and led at once. Their steering was very poor and they were constantly warned by the Umpire, however they led by three quarters of a length at Fawley but were unable to increase their lead. Mercantile Rowing Club challenged hard from the mile but could not get on terms as Leander increased their rate of sculling to bold them off winning a very good race by half a length.
Melbourne University Boat Club (VIC) - Peter T Antonie (b), A. Danne, J. T. Colley, P. T. Moore (s)

In the semi-finals The Tideway Scullers' School 'N., sculling with fine precision, took an immediate lead over Melbourne University, Australia, and led by a length and a half at the Barrier before going on to win by two and three quarter lengths.
