Lindisfarne Rowing Club (TAS) - Edward O Hale
In the first round, Hale easily accounted for American sculler J F Getlein from the New Haven Rowing Club. In the second round, Hale defeated Dutchman J A Bruijn from the R S E V Skadi club by three lengths.
In the semi-final, Ted met the eventual winner and reining champion from 1973, Sean Drea from Ireland. Drea overwhelmed Hale by fast rating, 43 settling to 36, compared to Ted's 36 settling to 31. Drea had a length and a half at the Barrier and then continued to gain throughout the rest of the race to win by 3 1/2 lengths.
