This was the first Australian school eight to race at Henley. The Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup was instituted in 1946 for English public schools. From 1964, entries were opened to overseas schools. In round one, they defeated Cheltenham College easily. In round two, they met and defeated Holy Cross Secondary College from Canada by four lengths. In the next round they defeated La Salle College High School from the US by 1 1/4 lengths. In the semi-finals, they defeated local school Kington Grammar School by one length after Kington got an early lead which was steadily removed. In the final they met local favourites, Eton College. Both crews went out hard rating 48 before settling down to race pace at 35 strokes per minute. Brisbane Boys led from the strt and moved out to one length lead in the middle stages of the race. Under heavy pressure from Eton, the margin was reduced but not overcome. The winning margin was 2/3 length.
