Sykes Rowing Club (pseudonym for the Australian eight and acknowledgement of support of Jeff Sykes & Assoc) - Bow: Richard Shenfield, 2: Anthony Ellis, 3: David Cameron, 4: Eric Moore, 5: Robert Jahrling, 6: Ben Dodwell, 7: Peter Murphy, Str: Janusz Hooker,  Cox: Teesaan Koo

 Defeated by the Dutch national eight (called Holland Acht) by two lengths.


Thames Challenge Cup

2nd round

 

Mosman Rowing Club (NSW) - Bow: Andrew Burke, 2: Mark Williams, 3: Greg Stroud, 4: Guy Morgan, 5: Graham Jones, 6: Mark Campbell, 7: Ian Coates, Str: Bob Tucker, Cox: Terry O'Hanlon

Mosman won their first round against Lea Rowing Club easily. However St Andrews Boat Club (UK) got the better of the Australians in the second round going down by 1 1/4 lengths.

Mosman Rowing Club (NSW) A

Mosman Rowing Club (NSW) B

Mosman A were defeated by University of London B crew by 2 lengths and Mosman B crew were defeated by Auriol Kensington Rowing Club by only a canvas.

UTS Haberfield - Round 1

 

Sykes Rowing Club (NSW) (pseudonym for the Australian rowing team) - Marcus Hanna and Wayne Diplock

This crew did not race and thus resulted in a row over by Gleeson and Collins in the first round.

UTS Haberfield Rowing Club (NSW)  - Geoffrey Stewart and James Stewart

The Stewart brothers were defeated in the first round by Bangert and Mason.


Temple Challenge Cup

Melbourne Grammar School (VIC)

The Melbourne Grammar crew was defeated easily in the first round by Downing College, Cambridge.


Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup

Round 1

 

Melbourne Grammar School (VIC)

Defeated by Hampton School A by 2 lengths


Wyfold Challenge Cup

Mosman Rowing Club (NSW)

Mosman was defeated easily in the first round by Gloucester Rowing Club.


Women's Single Sculls

Round 1

 

Leichhardt Rowing Club (NSW) - Gillian Campbell

Gillian had the misfortune of meeting Elisabeta Lipa in the first round and was easily defeated by this great sculler.


Diamond Challenge Sculls

UTS Haberfield Rowing Club (NSW) - Richard C Roach

Richard lost to M R Webb in round 1.

Mosman Rowing Club (NSW) - A Maiore

Maiore did not compete resulting in a row over for his competitor N Taga.

Sykes Rowing Club (pseudonym for the Australian rowing team) - Jason Day

Day defeated A C Rudkin by 3 3/4 lengths in the first round, but current World Lightweight sculling champion Peter Haining defeated him by 2 1/2 lengths in the second round.


Queen Mother Challenge Cup

Round 1

 

Sykes Rowing Club (pseudonym for the Australian rowing team) - Bow: Cy Pearson, 2: Stuart Purves, 3: Anthony Edwards, Str: Simon Burgess

The Australian quad were eliminated in the first round by London Rowing Club A crew. It was not without interest. They raced twice given that the the first race was judged a dead heat. The re-row resulted in a loss for the Australians by 1 1/4 lengths.
