Australian Institute of Sport - Bow: Mark McInerny (SA), 2: Peter Tomanovits (VIC), 3: Glenn Myler (TAS), 4: Paul Thompson (ACT), 5: Richard Finlayson (NSW), 6: Michael McKay (VIC), 7: Andrew Cooper (VIC), Str: Malcolm Batten (QLD), Cox: Andrew Cox (NSW), Cch: Reinhold Batschi (ACT)
The AIS crew was the Australian Under 23 crew that won silver at 1985 Match des Seniors and a development crew. At Henley they drew finalist Princeton in round one. The Henley Regatta Records book reported as follows. Princeton had to work harder for their place in the final. They led the Australian Institute of Sport, Australia's national development eight, by a third of a length at the top of Temple Island. At the Barrier they had a length, but the Australians pulled them back to three quarters of a length at Fawley. Princeton countered and were half a length clear at the mile, but the Australians, at 39 to 35, pulled them back to a length at the finish.
