1988 Trans Tasman Under 23 Regattas– Adelaide SA AUS

This series was for representative Australian and New Zealand crews.

The highlight of this series was the inclusion of a Canadian team and an American women's four. The Canadian team included the great Marnie McBean who naturally won the women's single scull at the three regattas.

It was hoped to have a women's lightweight four but NZL could not boat one. The originally selected crew was bow: Kristy McAIister (ACT), 2: Denise Collins (SA), 3: Susie Deterding (SA), Str: Helen Simpson (SA) and coach: Bob Holland (SA). The race was conducted in any event but not for points.

Other selection issues included on the men's side - Nick Green withdrawing with a back injury and being replaced by David Fogarty from the senior squad, Matt Dingle withdrawing from the third regatta with a virus and replaced by Ian Coates (NSW) in the eight and Stephen Nesbitt (SA) in the coxed four, and finally, Dean Watts was originally selected as a sculler but withdrew with a viral infection and being replaced by James McKee. On the women's team - Sarah Ham had to withdraw and was replaced by Georgie Green and Jenny Brown also had to withdraw from the team due to study commitments and was not replaced.

Australia won the series.
