1985 PSA Head of the River
Scotch College took out the 1985 Head of the River from Guildford and Aquinas.
Scotch College also won two other races on the program. Aquinas also won three of them and so there was therefore no doubt as to the winner and second place getters in the Hamer Cup, just the order. Aquinas prevailed being competitive in all six races and specifically finishing in the top three in every race.
There was a significant change to the program with the introduction of the Year 10 eight and four at the expwense of the Under 16 eight and four. Under 16 events were first introduced in 1971.
Hamer Cup
The Hamer Cup is awarded to the school with the highest aggregate points across all events at the Head of the River regatta.
The winning school was Aquinas College, with Scotch College second and Guildford Grammar third.
