1983 PSA Head of the River
The 1983 Head of the River was a triumph for the Hale School who won from Scotch and then Wesley.
The Hamer Cup winner was Aquinas College which won three of the six races and finished second in two others. Aquinas was to be a regular winner of this trophy for a number of years thereafter.

The Hamer Cup is awarded to the school with the highest aggregate points across all events at the Head of the River.
The winning school was Aquinas College, with Scotch College second and Wesley College third.
