The 1990s saw underage events (Under 15, Under 14, Under 13) change from sweep to sculling. Also, an open single scull was introduced for the first time.

First Eight:
Hutchins School made it five wins straight with a win in 1993.
The dominance of the Hutchins School was evident with them winning 12 of the last 14 Golden Fleece Cups (1980 - 1993).
