Lake Barrington is an artificial lake with extends 20-kilometres long on the Forth River. It was built in 1969, and by 1984, a world-class venue was ready for rowing regattas.

First Eight:
Hutchins School won over new entrants Dominic College, with St. Virgil's College third.
This was Hutchins' fifth win in a row of the First Eight, extending their stranglehold on the Golden Fleece Cup.
