2022 Australian Masters Championships, Lake Wendouree, VIC

Once again the AMRC suffered a relocation, this time from WA to Victoria, and Lake Wendouree in Ballarat was the chosen venue. The 2022 culprit was the ongoing Omicron strain of the COVID-19 virus.

From the 19th to the 22nd May, the 1956 Olympic Regatta course played host to the 2022 Australian Masters Rowing Championships and its 749 competitors.

South Australia (Men’s 8), Queensland (Women’s 8) and Victoria (Women’s 4x) continued their successes in the Interstate races whilst Victoria returned to the top step of the podium in the Men’s 4x. Sue Donoghoe (ACT) won the PR3W1x over the previous year’s winner Lisa Greissl (NSW), and Kevin Wall (NSW) won the PR3M1x in a close race over Tasmania’s Alistair Chong.

Melbourne Rowing Club inched closer to Toowong Rowing Club in the Club pointscore, with Lindisfarne’s Tom Wilcox and Tanja Nishibata of Melbourne Rowing Club the highest ranked male and female competitors.
