2016 Australian Masters Championships, Lake Kawana QLD

Held from June 2 to June 5, the 2016 regatta featured a new course, Lake Kawana on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. It was the first time Kawana had been used for a national-level rowing event. Over 1600 entries were received for the regatta. Toowong Rowing Club was once again Champion Club, taking the title by 95 points from Canberra Rowing Club, who were in turn 111 points ahead of Mosman Rowing Club.

The regatta suffered from adverse conditions on the final days, with a storm progressing through the area forcing compromises on the event schedule. Racing was cancelled after Race 321, the Masters J-K Men’s 8+, won by a North Shore RC composite at 11.20 am on Sunday 5th June.
