Lindisfarne Rowing Club (TAS)

Roger was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in June 2026 for service to the community of Hobart.

His work for the City of Hobert and the Clarence City Council is extensive, as is his for work at all levels in Australian Rules Football.

Of interest to this website is his extraordinary commitment to rowing in Tasmania. Over nearly 50 years at Lindisfarne Rowing Club, Viney where he has served in numerous roles including president, secretary, treasurer, public officer and coach. Needless to say he was elected life member of his club in 2022.

At the State rowing level, he has served as a Tasmanian state team manager, coach and selector. His leadership and service have left a lasting legacy across Tasmanian rowing. He has been awarded life membership of the Tasmanian State Team.

The idea for this history originated from the Olympic Rowing and World Senior Rowing Championship histories written by Andrew Guerin and Margot Foster in 1991, 1992 & 1993 for the Australian team handbooks. Andrew Guerin developed and extended these histories to the current format in 2004 for publication in 2004 and then expanded the site.

Steve Roll has been an invaluable contributor to the website in locating errors and finding Christian names of rowers. His superb work is acknowledged.
