After his successful rowing career, Tim turned his attention to politics being elected as the youngest Mayor of Stonnington in 2009 and then to the safe seat of Kew in the Victorian Parliament in 2014. He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition in February 2015, and is the youngest Liberal MP in State Parliament.
