Donald S Robertson

Donald Struan Roberston was the only son of John E Robertson, another rower of Geelong Grammar.

Donald was a student at Geelong Grammar from 1907 through to the end of 1912 and was an exceptional athlete, excelling at gymnastics, playing for the school in the firsts football team and competing successfully in athletics. He raced in the six seat of the Geelong Grammar First VIII in 1912 which finished second by a canvas to Wesley College in the Head of the River.

During his school years, Donald’s family were mainly in Perth (his father Jack was posted to Perth in 1908) and after school he worked on the land in WA until the First World War broke out and he enlisted.

He did not have a good war and died shortly after the cessation of hostilities in 1920.
