J Fyfe Marr

Commercial Rowing Club (QLD)

Jack Pritchard in his book Rowing in Queensland reported on his death in 1968 in the following terms:

Fyfe Marr, a lifelong member of Commercial RC. had represented Queensland as a sculler in Adelaide in 1913, rowed in the winning Commercial Champion Four in 1914 and in the winning Commercial Champion Eight in 1915. The family-run Marrs Guest House in Tank Street, Brisbane, was the home away from home for country oarsmen and the venue for the monthly meetings of the Brisbane District Rowing Association for many years.
