Henry C Maling

Mercantile Rowing Club (VIC)

Henry learned the craft at rowing at Scotch College during WWI. He finished with a win in 1919 in the famous dead heated race. The race was re-rowed later in the day and Scotch prevailed.

Like his fellow Scotch Collegian in that crew Cecil McKay, both were fast tracked at Mercantile and selected into the successful 1922 Club eight. This crew won the State Championship and was selected without change at the Victorian crew. Sadly it was successful.

He was also a member of 1923 winning State Championship crew but selection into the State eight did not follow.

His death was recorded in the 1962-63 Club annual report.
