Albert E Lester

Jeparit Rowing Club (VIC)

Albert Edward Lester was born at Nhill Victoria but lived in Jeparit where he worked as a grocer. His younger brother Edward, a grocer's assistant, also served in WWI.

He enlisted for WWI at the age of 21 on 10th July 1915, service number 4243.

By May 1916 he was in France with 14th Battalion. He was wounded in action on 29th August 1916 with damage to his right thumb. He rejoined his unit within a week.

On 11th April 1917 he was killed in action.
