1974 – Interstate Men’s Lightweight Four Championship (QLD) three seat – Third

1976 – Interstate Men’s Lightweight Four Championship (VIC) bow – First

1976 – National Championship Lightweight Four Bow – First

1977 – National Championships Lightweight Eight stroke – First

1977 – Interstate Men’s Lightweight Four Championship emergency

1977 – World Championships – Men’s Lightweight Eight stroke – Bronze

1979 – World Championships – Men’s Lightweight Eight two seat – Sixth

 

1977 Australian lightweight eight with John fourth from the right 

John continued his interest in rowing after his competitive career by setting up the inaugural rowing program at Loreto College Mandeville Hall and was on the original committee with Susie Palfreyman and others that led to the Head of the Schoolgirls regatta. He also coached the Xavier College 1st VIII for four years in late 90’s.
