A M Downing

Richmond Rowing Club (VIC)

A M Downing was a long serving administrator of his club.

In 1935-36 club annual report when he was elected to life membership, the following was stated.

Mr. Downing joined the Club in 1924, and was elected to the hon. secretaryship in 1926, a position which he still holds. He is an ex-officio member of all committees and sub-committees of the Club, and a delegate to the Victorian Rowing Association. Mr. Downing has expressed the hope that he will continue to retain the confidence of members and be of service to the Club.

He was obviously a modest person as he maintained the confidence of members as secretary until 1941 and thereafter Vice-President until 1951.
