Jack has recorded 125+ regatta wins in the period 1983 to 2021 (our most successful member?)
From the 2015/16 Yarra Yarra Rowing Club annual report:-
My thanks to Jack for not just putting up with me for over 20 years, but getting us a new website. This has been a really significate effort and has taken up many hours of Jack’s effort we have landed on a low cost website solution customised to meet the needs of our members and the club generally. All going well it should be operational later this financial year.
From the Yarra Yarra Rowing Club newsletter the 'Yarra Yabbie' 19 Sept 2021:-
Jack joined Yarra Yarra in 1982/83 as a student member, and something about the club stuck with him, it became a second family of sorts.
Jack has been Vice President of Yarra Yarra since the 2012/13 season and enjoys giving to the club by working away quietly behind the scenes on numerous projects.
He’s volunteered his time to assist with the redevelopment of the club’s website on a number of occasions, participating in the YYRC archiving committee, when he’s not competing in it – providing assistance to the winter sculling series.
A keen photographer with an interest in history (particularly Yarra Yarra’s history), Jack continues to
Digitise the club historical photos and documents on Yarra Yarra’s archive channel on our web site.
Jack’s first win representing YYRC, was for the novice four at the Australian Henley on the Yarra regatta. He’s represented YYRC at many local, national and international events, including events like the Head of the Charles Global remote event held in 2020.
Jacks speech was short and sweet, thanking the committee and membership for the respect and honour. In thinking about the club, Jack has noted that while he’s seen many members come and go while progressing through their lives. Something about the club’s ongoing presence of family has resonated, as seen when members reminisce about Yarra Yarra on social media.
Jack just feels lucky to be part of the family.
