Gilbert Castieau

Mercantile Rowing Club (VIC)

Gilbert was active in the Club after the First World War.

His war record is unknown other than a John Gilbert Buckley Castieau applied for a commission in 1916 but no record of service follows. This applicant, thought to be our Gilbert Castieau, was a 23 year old lawyer employed by the federal attorney General Department in Melbourne and a Lieutenant in the Melbourne University Rifles.

He also served as the Club's Honorary Secretary.
