Jack Pritchard noted the death of Clavill Bere in Rowing in Queensland as follows:
Clavill Bere was best known as rowing coach at The Southport School for over forty years where he achieved great success and was a member of the A.I.F. No. 2 crew in the 1919 Henley Regatta at which the trophy which we now know as the King's Cup was presented to the winning A.I.F. No. 1 crew by King George V. The rowing community was the poorer for the passing of him.
