1907 - Interstate Men’s Eight Championship two seat - Fourth

1910 - Interstate Men’s Eight Championship two seat - First

1911 - Interstate Men’s Eight Championship two seat - First

1912 - Olympic Games – Men’s Eight reserve

1912 – Henley Royal Regatta – Grand Challenge Cup - reserve

Roy was a long serving Vice-President of Sydney Rowing Club.  

In 1921 he coached the inaugural Newington Eight which won the GPS regatta at their first start.

His obituary in 1966-67 Sydney Rowing Club annual report noted as follows.

Roy Barker, who joined the club in J 903, was a vice­-president of the club and a very highly respected member. He repre­sented the State on four occasions and was a member of the famous 1912 squad which raced and won at Henley and represented Australia in the Stockholm Olympic Games. Roy, who was 84, last visited the club late in 1966 when he was presented with a trophy to mark his long association with S.R.C.
