John Allen

Jeparit Rowing Club (VIC)

John Allen was born in Nhill in 1888 and was a painter by trade. 

He enlisted for WWI in Horsham on 17th March 1916 and served in 38th Battalion. 

John was wound twice in action and survived. The first was a gunshot wound to the chest in 28th May 1917 and the second was a shrapnel wound to the neck on 16th August 1918.

His wounds entitled him to an earlier than normal return to Australia on 16th January 1919.
