E Yandell

Mercantile Rowing Club (VIC)

The following obituary was extracted from the Mercantile 1942-43 annual report.

Another link with the past has been broken by the death, at Canberra, of Mr. E. Yandell, financial secretary to the Commonwealth Treasury. In the years 1905 to 1908, Mr. Yandell was a keen member of the Club, and he had a successful rowing career. Pressure of work, and his transfer to Canberra, put an end to bis active rowing, but like many other oarsmen long since resident in the Federal Capital, he was always interested in the welfare of the Club. The news of his death was received with much regret, especially by those of his contemporaries who still remain in the Club.
