Frederick C Stride

Jeparit Rowing Club (VIC)

Frederick was an English born Australian who enlisted for WWI at the unusually old age of 37.5 years.

He enlisted in Melbourne on 10 September 1914 and was given service number 2299.

He served as a train driver throughout the war in France and reached the rank of Lance Corporal. 

He was discharged from service overseas on 7th June 1918 as medically unfit and returned to Australia. 

Frederick died in Melbourne in 1969 aged 76 years.
