Rev. John Johnstone

Melbourne University Boat Club (VIC)

Following his rowing career, he became Rev. Johnstone.

Thomas Colles wrote an essay on rowing in Victoria in 1860s which was included in John Lang's book The Victorian Oarsman and which included the following insights into Johnston.

Was also a No. 3 in the University boat, a strong oarsman, and an honest worker with great lasting power.

1869 - Melbourne Regatta, Senior Four, three seat - First

1871 - Australian University Championships, Men's Four, bow - First
