James (Jim) B Clemens

Mercantile Rowing Club (VIC)

The following obituary appeared in the Mercantile 1964-65 annual report.

J. B. (Jim) Clemens joined the Club in the mid 1920's.

He was a successful oarsman over a number of years, winning races in Maiden, Junior and Senior classes of rowing. In the early 1930's he was on three occasions selected in the Victorian King's Cup Squad.

During World War II. he served in an Artillery Regiment with the Australian Imperial Forces.

Over recent years business commitments made it somewhat difficult to attend the Clubhouse regularly, but he was at all times interested in the Club's progress and up to date with Club affairs.
