Frederick J Morphett

Adelaide University Boat Club (SA)

The report of his death in the Adelaide Chronicle 12-3-1942 p.2 states:

Mr. Frederick J Morphett, chief engineer and assistant superintdent at the North Mine, Broken Hill, whose death occurred recently at the age of 40 years, supervised the construction of the concentrating mill, the change house, administrative quarters No.2 shaft erection of modern workshops, stores and garages. At Adelaide University he was very prominent in rowing, and at Port Pirie was one of the leading members of the rowing club. Mr.Morphett was the eldest son of Mrs. Morphett, of Woodville, and the late Mr. John C. F. Morphett. He leaves a widow and two daughters, Pamela and Betty.
