Rowing Australia is saddened to hear of the passing of a beloved rowing community member, Jenny Beer.

Jenny is a stalwart of the Australian Rowing Championships since 2013 and known to everyone who passed through the site offices to collect accreditation, parking, lost property or to see a friendly face and be spoiled with baked treats.

She is the mother of Swan River Rowing Club Head Coach Mark Beer and sister of former Rowing Australia staffer Clare Phillips. Jenny is also known to every athlete who sought medical treatment at the Australian Institute of Sport from 1997-2015, when she was the Sports Science Sports Medicine receptionist.

Jenny, who passed away on May 29, will be sadly missed and Rowing Australia extends its deepest condolences to Jenny’s family and friends.

The idea for this history originated from the Olympic Rowing and World Senior Rowing Championship histories written by Andrew Guerin and Margot Foster in 1991, 1992 & 1993 for the Australian team handbooks. Andrew Guerin developed and extended these histories to the current format in 2004 for publication in 2004 and then expanded the site.
