The authenticity of the following story is unknown as is the identity of the oarsman involved but it makes good reading and is sourced to Harry Robinson via David Cannon:

At the weigh-in, a Tasmanian oarsmen stepped onto the scales with his track suit on, and was over the limit.  He then took his track top off, stepped on - still over weight.  Off came the track suit bottom - still overweight.  Of came the singlet - still overweight.  Off came the shorts - still overweight.  Off came the jocks, now nude - still overweight but the scales are teetering.  He then took out his false teeth, and stepped onto the scales.  The scales wavered, but he had made it!
