The eights race was initially postponed
for one day from Saturday to Sunday due to unrowable conditions.
However the conditions persisted and a further delay to Monday
was arranged. As some crews had commitments which would not
permit further delays, a shorter 2 mile course was established
in the Crawley Inlet on Monday afternoon for the race. Victoria
led early but was overtaken by NSW. Victoria was well stroked
by Wal Lambert and they rowed through NSW to lead again and
take the Championship by 1 1⁄4 lengths. Tasmania was
hit by the wash of a passing boat which caused irreparable
damage to their boat. Tasmania were therefore unable to finish. |
