Downing Street.
13th May, 1921

Commonwealth of Australia
No. 198.

My Lord,

I have the honour to request Your Excellency to inform Your Ministers that I have laid before His Majesty the King your despatch No. 76 of the 8th March 1921, forwarding a Petition by captain H.C. Disher of the Australian Army Medical Corps and other correspondence regarding the disposal of the King’s cup won by a crew consisting of members of the Australian Imperial forces at the Henley Regatta in May 1919. His Majesty commands me to inform you that it is his wish that the Cup should be used as a permanent trophy and be competed for annually in the Interstate Eight-Oar Race of Australia.

I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship’s most obedient,
humble servant,
(signed)
WINSTON S. CHURCHILL.

His Excellency,
The Right Honorable Baron Forster
P.C. G.C.M.G.
Governor-General,
Of the Commonwealth of Australia.
